As one of the world’s most Christianized nations, Papua New Guinea is famous for the number of churches, mission organisations and Bible translators. With nearly 800 languages in the country, its evident that it will take quite a number of workers to see the Bible available to the 6.25 million person population.

It is in the midst of all these wonderful people serving that the January DTS outreach team from YWAM Reef to Outback found themselves in a place called Little America. As a result of all the American missionaries working in this region, they even have a little store full of American food. For a group living in the jungle, this was an exciting oasis!

But not for long! After filling up on homemade pizza, they are headed back to the heart of PNG where they will continue to work with people from the Highland regions. They are using stories and short skits to help share messages of value and hope to the nationals and finding crowds of up to 400-500 people arriving to listen to what they have to say.

Team leader, Buddy Baldock shares a story from their time, “We were travelling back to Lae from a village five hours away. We stopped in a market for some fresh coconuts and while were standing there a man came out of the market and told our translator that he recognised me from five years ago when I was here on my DTS outreach. Not only did he recognise me, but also remembered my name, what our team did and talked about while we were there.”

What an incredible story to remind the team that there is value in every message that is shared. You never know who will remember and be impacted for the rest of their lives!
