The October 2009 Staff training is in full swing and after 2 weeks of hard work finishing Cert IV, binding journals and workbooks, putting together welcome packs, and stocking our brains with useful information. our dreams, prayers and hard work are finally unfolding before our eyes and becoming reality. as students of the October DTS are slowly trickling in.

“There is something missing in my life, there has to be more to life.” I feel like this is a thought that many young people have. I know when I was in high school I was always thinking about this. When we traveled around Victoria we spoke to over 4,000 students about the poor and needy and how they could make a difference in the world. I remember walking into our first school and being super excited as we had just returned from Fiji only 2 days before! We had geared up for speaking to these stud…

“I’m married with a little girl. My husband doesn’t like that I’m a prostitute, but if I don’t sell myself, we won’t be able to afford the food we need to survive.”
This was the cry recently heard by the
YWAM Reef to Outback outreach team in Bali. The most shocking thing of all? Sex with this woman will cost only around $2 AUD.
The sex industry around the world is being fed by hungry appetites at the cost of many women and children. In Bali, the situation i…

YWAM Reef to Outback's January DTS outreach team to Bali has found themselves in a tiny village outside a city called Singaraja in Northern Bali. They are staying at an orphanage of about 30 children that’s being operated by YWAMers. At first glance, the team believed that these kids were absolutely normal, healthy and fulfilled and they are, but actually, almost all of them had come from an incredibly c…

Most people would see a big beautiful river and be delighted by the view and maybe an opportunity to swim or raft leisurely. For the YWAM RTO team in Papua New Guinea, the river has become their toilet, their bath, and their main water source. Needless to say, they are very grateful to have a…

Great friends. Awesome meals. Incredible worship. Insightful strategies. Our Aussie National Leaders Meeting was wonderful. Thanks to those of you who have been praying for us! Jared is now off with the DTS camping for a couple of weeks. I (Rebekah) will be joining them soon and will try to bring back some pictures.
Since we'll be away in and out of communication for the next couple of weeks, I wanted to send this humorous and refreshing video. We hope it challenges you as it did us to get to k…

So time has flown by and its been awhile since I've been keeping people up to date. Let me catch you up. In Oct I began staffing a DTS. The lecture phase went so well and we saw God move so much. Ok that was a really really short briefing on that. After lecture phase is Outreach. Which let me just tell you was amazing. I lead a team of 8 on my own to two local indigenous communities. One being Palm Island and the other Mount Isa. Here is a little snid bit of what it was like.…

It was like looking into a postcard every morning. I can't even begin to explain the beauty of this land. It was breath-taking. Our team arrived on Palm Island three days late. We were supposed to leave Monday, but actually got there on Thursday. No worries though! We had two amazing weeks working with the indigenous children on the island.
Everyday, we would head over to the PCYC with Solate or "Miss", as we learn to call her, and play with the kids from 11am till 5pm. It was so amazing to see…

Can you believe this is my first ever blog?
I have no excuse, thank goodness I married a man who is up to date with the 21st century :)
As most all of you have heard by now we are expecting our very first child! On August 8, 2008 our lives were forever changed with two little pink lines. It was the week the Olympics started and needless to say I was one big ball of emotions. It didn't matter who won the gold-China, America, Australia...I cried. Not only was there the crying but my body started…

One of the exciting privileges that come with doing a DTS is the Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary. You can hold koala's, snakes, feed kangaroos, and see all kinds of Australian wildlife. Since a picture says a thousand words, and I am too lazy and hungry to type right now, here are some photo's of todays trip.
