Outreach

I should first apologize for the sparse (ok not at all) updates. After Christmas, we had one week, and then were off for Outreach. For those of you who are not aware, Outreach is a two month period of missions and service. My DTS was divided up into three teams. The Palm Island/Mt. Isa team stayed within Australia to minister to the Indigenous and Youth of Australia. The Thailand team went and worked with Orphans and Prostitutes. Last but not least, My team went to Darwin, Australia to minister… Continue

Week 9-10 Impact Summer!

From December 17th - 23rd our DTS staffed a kids camp called Impact Summer. All of the kids who came were between the ages of 13 and 17, and every one of them slept here at the Base. I had no idea what to expect as Impact summer approached. I would even go as far as to say that I was not looking forward to what lay ahead. Week 7-8

During the first week of camping I felt like this time would never come to an end, but in retrospect, the two weeks flew by; and as I look back on the experience now, it was incredible. The battles of the first week were both fought and lost in the flesh – literally. The bugs were ridiculous. There were gnats and pesky black flies in the mornings, vicious biting march flies all day, and stealthy mosquitoes and screaming stakatas every night. (I have attached pictures and video for your viewing p… Continue

Week 6

November 18, 2008

I have been unable to sleep these past few nights, so tonight I have decided to write. It’s a little easier with the whole house of 15 girls asleep anyways. I don’t feel like my mind is particularly racing, just unable to rest. My body is recurrently itchy just as I feel like I may be able to drift away; but unable to resist the urge I draw myself back to awareness as I move my arms to scratch at my legs, my arms, my feet, my back…it goes on and on throughout the night. Thinki… Continue

Week 4-5

I have learned so much in these last few weeks. The most amusing fact of all: Men have a place in their mind where they can think about nothing. The reaction in the classroom was one of both recognition and jealousy. I thought “Ahh, that explains so much!” This was spurred from a conversation regarding who we are in Christ, and what we desire to know and to reveal as men and women. This was in week three when we were talking about Identity, and how we so often find our identity in places other t… Continue
