About Me:
Hey! I recently graduated from the October 2008 DTS in March 2009. What an eye-opening experience! God spoke everyday and continues to speak into your life when you surrender yourself to Him. Throughout my time of training and outreach to Darwin and East Timor, I saw the impact of God's love on individuals and was able to see Him work in SO many powerful ways. During DTS you never have to many of those "ah-ha" moments from your leaders and through your relationship with God. There is so much I can say and so much I learned through this experience. If you are someone who has questions about DTS or wants to know more about me and my time at RTO, please ask!

During my DTS, God spoke to me about attending Graduate School for Mental Health Counseling. Although I was disappointed when I came home about passed deadlines for applying for the fall, I had a peace that if God spoke it, it would happen despite all odds. And guess what? The week I came back God showed me a school in one of my favorite cities, Washington DC, that had openings still for their counseling program in the fall. I applied, took the GRE, had an interview, and I GOT IN! So this fall, I will start on my M.A. in Community Counseling so that in two years I will be a LPC (Liscensed Professional Counselor, I know "so" official!) God was faithful during this whole process and He is the only one I can give the glory to for finding this program.

With all of this said though, I miss Australia so much and have a feeling that perhaps God isn't finished with me in Australia just yet.

One of the most important things I have learned from this past year is that God makes no mistakes, and even if you do, He is there to pick up the peices. Jesus didn't die on a cross so that we would feel guilty about ourselves. What is important is our daily response to His death, and how we act as a result in our personal relationship with Him!

thoughts of the day

....so i just finished reading a c.s.lewis book, "a grief observed". Although it takes me forever to get through one of lewis' books, I really love his style of writing because a lot of times I think he is all over the place with his thoughts and ideas. Since I'm pretty random in my thoughts most times, I can somewhat relate...but i'm not always as witty and smart. here is one of my favorite parts from "a grief observed":

"God has not been trying an experiement on my faith or love in order to find out their quality. he knew it already. It was I who didn't In this trial He makes us occupy the dock, the witness box, and the bench all at once. he always knew that my temple was a house of cards. His only way of making me realize the fact was to knock it down." (Ch.3)

hello laura v grant. can you believe in under two weeks we will be sitting around in a circle in townsville, all telling stories of how we got there. and then, during that conversating you and i will look at each other and laugh because we will remember this conversation. then everyone will look at us like we're crazy because the person that was talking at the time was telling a really emotional and spiritual story. then we'll both be immediately shunned from the group and sent home. maybe i shouldn't send this message...

Ha that's funny, I didn't know you were staying in memphis! I was there for a few days last year when we moved to Georgia. We made it like a complete cross country experience, we stopped at a lot of different places.
