Where do I get cool Music of Christ???... I Tried to....

I browse my files in my laptop for some cool music to share it with lovers of Christ but all I found was my old collections (I was a Thrash Metal(ist)). Should I erase them? or is it ok to keep them. Can anyone suggest me some links to find related genres...kinda gospel thrash? IDK if i am too naive but I am a very new comer in this new adventure

Hi! I am also a HUGE fan of thrash! As for whether you should delete your old music, that's something between you and God... ask Him, and if he convicts you, delete them.

As for some good thrash focused on Jesus... there is a whole lot out there. Even from the late 70's there have been artists who are also believers making good metal.

Here is a short list of artists from my iPod that are believers and love to thrash it out:

As I Lay Dying
Zao
Living Sacrifice
Becoming The Archetype
War Of Ages
Killswitch Engage
Aletheian
Anguish Unsaid
The Ascendicate
August Burns Red
Norma Jean
Blindside
Bloodlined Calligrophy
The Chariot
Burden Of A Day
Demon Hunter
Cry Of The Afflicted
Destroy The Runner,
The Devil Wears Prada
Every New Day
Disciple
Figure Four
Foreknown
Full Blown Chaos
Haste The Day
Mortal Treason
Inhale Exhale,
My Children My Bride
Mortification
Nodes Of Ranvier
Oh Sleeper
A Plea For Purging
PK Mitchell
Second Thief
The Showdown
With Faith Or Flames
With Faith And Fire
Your Eyes My Dreams

Hi there Aaron,
Thank you so much for the valuable, treasurable links you gave me.
I copied the links and as soon as I reply to your comment, I will search for it. Of course, I will also let you know which one I liked the most.
By the way, what turned you away from thrashing (A little personal though)

Well... thrash is just a type of music... as you'll see, there are a lot of Christians that are all about thrash.

However, I find that thrash often glorifies things I don't stand for. Take Metallica, Megadeth, Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse, all from the thrash genre (loosely).

All of these artists glorify things that are in opposition to my faith. Death, murder, rape, sexual perversions, depression, suicide, alcohol and drug abuse... the list goes on.

Some people say it's "just music" but I disagree. What you listen to, I believe, has a marked influence on how you live your life. I have to filter my music fairly carefully to make sure what I'm listening to isn't actually in opposition to what I believe.

As for playing thrash... I still do. I see no reason why I can't do that for the glory of God.

Actually, Aaron... You ve got a very good judgement. your words just struck me. One of my favourites used to be ARCH ENEMY and i see no reason why they should name their band as arch enemy. keeping aside the religious issue, it is not even democratic. it is totally unethical and illogical.....(uncivil rather) to be in enmity with someone, something or anything. Everyone has the right to hold on to somthing (whatever it may be... beliefs, thoughts, principles etc) and no one has the right to be in enmity with anyone's idealogy!!. And these bands....(I want to use some harsh language here to make it sound serious).... they actually jam against someone's belief!!!... i mean their lyrics!!. Nway, their videos and stage performance are so good that most of us tend to get stuck to it. I think the gospel thrashers too need to improve their performance to keep up with the scenario. (IDK if I get the right word)

Yeah.

See, at the same time, though, I also want to b know what's going on outside the "Christian" bubble of metal... and so I still do listen to a lot of music that isn't produced by Christians, but I have to be very careful about it. Looking through my iPod, you'll still find Metallica, Megadeth, Slipknot, All That Remains, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.

Why?

Because I work with youth, and a lot of them, this is what they listen to. I want to know what the are listening to, not only to see whether it's good or bad, but to actually know it. I want to be relevant to it... to know what bands stand for, what sort of an influence they are.

So I don't completely rule out listening to bands that don't glorify God, but I find I need to be very careful about what I am listening to, pay attention to how it affects me, too.

A lot of my problems when I was in my teens I could almost directly correlate with what I listened to at the time... which is one of the biggest reasons I'm passionate about music... I know what sort of an effect it can have on people.

I browsed through all the links you gave me. I liked that full blown chaos so I posted one to one of my friends and the comment I got back was a big LOL typed in red bold font.
I just hope that one day he will also come to the realization. I dont despise him for the comment he posted me back coz I also did the same some time back.
This is my comment to all the metal lovers in Christ..... Why should the devil have all the good music?.
Thrash for Jesus.....Jesus rocks!!

Hmm.

I was just looking up breakdowns on Youtube, and was quite encouraged, actually. A few artists who are Christians made it into quite a few clips... mostly August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada, and I even saw As I Lay Dying in there once.

33 Miles, great band. I went to Wal-Mart. While their selection is quite small it was a good find. Go to Amazon.com. They always have good music.

wow,,,it was awesome
by the way i heard (may be rumors) that Petra was once upon a time branded as anti christ singer.... is it true??

Ha, I have no idea. It is likely... Christianity at times has been extremely intolerant of change, and rock music at one time, I believe, was really not a kosher thing to do... although it has been around for a while.

Even now, a lot of my friends have said that I listen to "angry" music which certainly demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of metal. It's aggressive, it's passionate, but that doesn't mean it's angry.

I love using Pandora. Type in one artist and it will try to find other artists that are similar to what you have written in. Found out about a lot of other bands that I fell in love with.
