With them finally being over, what did you think of the show? What were some highlights? Did you think someone got snubbed?
personally, i loved hugh jackman as host. he did great. ben stiller imitating joaquin pheonix was hilarious, and slumdog millionaire deserved all the acclaim it got. what do you think?

I find it interesting how well Slumdog Millionaire did, seeing how it finished out 2008 at #39 gross at just over $100M... nearly 1/10 of what The Dark Knight took in.

the thing you have to realize is that the academy's aren't about gross at all. do i think TDK deserved some more oscar loving? absolutely. at least for the director. but if the oscars were about gross then spider-man 3 should've gotten a nomination last year, and we all know that spider-man 3 wasn't oscar-worthy.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE IS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN SOOOOO LONG....it has a great story line, great dialogue, it has a relevant social message on a real human travesty, moments of cathartic humor, and it shows the power of the human spirit to overcome such incredible odds. I am SO glad it won so many awards...Heath Ledger gets a g'donya too, even though it was a bit real (I don't know if he was "just" acting the whole time)....(Hi justin...it's been a long time...) :)

No, I realize it's not about gross, but in the past gross has been a half-decent indication, as well... and the criteria for selecting oscars, what are the criteria? I would think that the better a movie is, the more people that will go to see it... having said that I didn't actually like TDK, but a lot of people did.
