YWAM - Australia Reef to Outback

God has given each of us unique likes and dislikes.. He's made each of us unique with our own gifts and abilities... so what are you good at doing? What has he placed in your heart? What is one good quality about you? What do you want to do?

I have to say mine is that I'm very sensitive to other people, I really enjoy hanging with kids, and exploring new places, and cultures..i I also love nature, and being in it. I'm an all around relational person, love people.. I can become easily overwhelmed so I need time to process things..

Really Jeff, you like people? I never would have guessed! ha ha

Uh, yeah, for me, it's definitely music... I have a rough time if I'm not around music, it seems. I remember when I was in Thailand for 3 weeks in April, I ended up borrowing Mike's iPod after a week and a half and listening to Coldplay, who I could barely stand at the time... I was so desperate.

I did the SOMM in 2008 here at Reef To Outback, which was absolutely amazing. I think I was born to be on the road, playing music.

At various times in my life, I have had a heart for worship, but mostly my heart is to create and perform music that reaches inside and squeezes the heart... not just for Christians but especially for people who haven't been introduced to our God, yet. I look at bands like P.O.D., Lifehouse, Sixpence None The Richer, Zao and As I Lay Dying, who are all very involved in the "secular" music scene, but are clearly Christian, as well. That's where I want to be... I'm fine playing worship, but I want to be playing in bars, I want to be playing with bands who aren't Christian, playing at places like Ozzfest. I'm reminded of when P.O.D., obviously Christian, went on tour with KoRn. Underoath went on tour with Killswitch Engage. These are the artists I look up to, because they are doing what Jesus did... instead of trying to invite people in, like churches so often do, they go OUT TO the people.

So, that is my eventual hope... that I can play in a band... any band... and just have a foot in the "outside" world as I tend to look at it, now, as a YWAMer. I don't want to be outside of the world, I want to be in it, hands, feet, and head. In it not of it, right?

My passions are culture, languages, young people, missions, family, the church (as in Christians), seeing the lost know Jesus, and watching young people step into the destiny that God has for them (with an emphasis on missions!)

You know you're passionate about something when it makes your heart ache and you loose sleep over it.

Ok,, I want to say my passion whats been placed in my heart, or maybe it's always been there, hmmm. don't know.. but anyways, I want to work among the poor, and the simple in the developing nations, or working with indiginous communities,, really love that.. yeah,, thats were I want to be, and I believe God wants me to follow that..

I don't really have a passion, per se. There are a lot of things I'd like to do with my life and for God, but I don't know specifically what that is. I'm hoping to get a lot of answers during this DTS and just really see God's plan revealed for me. Might be children's ministry, might be full-time missionary, might be psychiatry. I could really see myself doing any of these things. I guess my passion is helping people, though I'm not sure what skills I can apply and to what situations.

actually, you and I are a lot alike. I really like working with kids, and I love hiking and kayaking (though I rarely get to). although I actually tend to shy away from people lol. introversion doesn't really lend itself all that well to outreach, but it's something i'm working on and getting better with every day. but it's not something i would ever want to do away with since it allows to develop my values and understand people and the will of God better. I'd just like to function a little better socially to be more approachable.

I know what you mean about that.. functioning better socially and what not.. it's so important to trust who we are, and accept ourselves.. (learning that one) introversion is a gift.. it does make it tough to always be around people.. so much going on always there at the base and in ywam in general , process time is very important.. we tend to feel more, and absorb more of our surroundings and become overwhelmed quicker than most.. Be good to yourself.. when I was up in the Island community (last 2 months) I realized that they really don't expect anyone to be other than who they really are, in fact they can sense it really quick when people aren't who they're created to be.if I was just trying to act a certain way and be really outgoing, but really didn't feel like it, they can pick up on it. So I decided to just sit back, reelax and be me,, works a lot better ;),, If I didn't feel like talking, didn't talk. I really appreciated how genuine those people are. Talking about introverts, wow, sometimes I would just sit for 4 or 5 minutes without a word spoken. .

I used to think that I was a really good artist until I went to college then I realized I wanted to sing more than anything. I am also very empathic. I relate to people and sometimes it's just good listening to people and not even sharing your thoughts. I am so loud and am really starting to come out of my shell. I am really excited to come here. I am confident that God will help. I also think just speaking the word of God is something that he has written onto my heart. He speaks to me in different ways and for some reason I always find my self writing the bible down or typing it out if I'm being lazy. L.O.L.

Those are gifts. I know what you mean,, prophecy and exhortation,, the body of Christ needs those.. you can help edify and build up with that.. keep practicing. It takes courage, but the more we step out into it I think the more we realize it's not about me, it's about Him, and then we just soar cause we don't care what people may think , but what God thinks.... which is awsome..
