YWAM - Australia Reef to Outback

so. i know there a million stories from various outreaches that would put to shame any Hollywood blockbuster. so lets get them out there, i don't care how many times you've told the story, or maybe its one you've kept for the world cause its just down right embarrassing we need something for current and future students to aim for!!

I'll kick it of with this one from Columbia.
It was about twelve thirty on a warm summers night, we were on the northern coast of Cartegena. It was our last stop on the venture and some of the girls thought it would be sweet to stay out (past curfew) and stargaze over the Caribbean. It was an amazing time just chilling out and relaxing after a crazy day in and out of the crack "hotels" and orphanages that were scattered around the city. After a few hours their consciences got the better of them, so they decided to call it quits and head to bed. But by the time they got back from the beach they realized that the share house in which they were staying in had been locked up for the night and every one was asleep. So, what do our two adventurous young ladies do?? scale the wall, climb over barb wire and intentionally place shards of broken glass onto the roof, for they knew that the back door could not be locked. after getting through what looked like the hardest part of their little adventure over the wall to safety, something happened that woke not only everyone in the house, but the neighbours on all three side. they fell through the roof. no joke. there was a huge crash and as the sounds of shattering clay tiles pierced the nigh, people started calling the police and were running for cover for they thought it was another attack from the local extremest. It wasn't until they looked up to see two young American girls waist deep in the roof that they calmed down and put their weapons away. Needless to say the girls were scared spitless, and were more that willing to pay for the damages, what an interesting team meeting it was the morning after...
100% true story.

i know there are funnier, more disgusting, gut wrenching stries out there, so get to it!

were do I begin..(speakn of falling through roofs, we had a bit of that, but nothing to that extent,,thats hilarious;). One funny one I guess was I thought it would be nice and refreshing.. whatever , you know, to just swim in the river when we were up in the Cape (Cape York). so I started walking down the river, water up to my chest,, kept getting deeper, so I started swimming.. Went up the river a couple hundred yards.. Later that night we all went out, well the aboriginal kids anyway (and myself, cause I'm always with the kids). They took out there flashlight and shown it down the river,, right were I had swam through a couple hours earlier.. 3 Crocs.. lol.. the guys were like "wasn't one of you missionary guys swimming through there just a little bit earlier".. thought about it.. I was like dag on..made me think twice swimming in there.. lol,, funny though..great times..

dude there's so many of them.. alright there's this guy on our DTS Joe Town (hope he doesn't mind;). really cool neat guy, hung up his hammock wherever we went, cause we spent a lot of our time camping outdoors. The guy loves Canada,, I mean he LOVES Canada,,hangs up a Canadian flag everywhere we went,, right by his hammock. So were camping in the backyard of one of these guys houses, and there's an all out party,, I mean can't even hear yourself think party going on all night,, I mean all night.. until 5:00 am cause I didn't sleep.. finally did fall asleep for about an hour in the morning, woke up to Joe just ranting about something.. I'm like what the heck is going on, well, during the night,, I don't know how.. but this is hilarious if you know Joe, and that flag.. someone takes the flag, (I mean not 2 steps from his hammock), and ties up a Australian one exactly were the Canadian one was.. I loved it .. lol that was the funniest site.. he couldn't let it go either,, great...

Last one.. for a while anyway.. so were out in the middle of the ocean, cause were fishing with the Islanders. Nothing but a little dingy,, small boat, and the guys like telling us, "ok you gotta watch out cause there sharks in here", apparently sharks all over where we were. Boats going up and down,,like a cork,, I mean the engines coming out of the water when we go up the wave and come down,, they called it the "Island Rodeo". Meanwhile were trolling off the back, fishing from the sides.. I mean these guys go all out. So the guy at the front of the boat trolling gets one,, and so the guy in the back stops the boat.. meanwhile waves just start coming in by the gallons over the sides.. the front fills up within like 30 seconds,, eskies floating around,, I mean the boats going under,, can't drain cause were not moving. So were all in the back just thinking this is it.. were sinking,, and apparently there's sharks all over this place.. (Jeff got it on video, no idea what he was thinking). So I'm thinking ,, this is it . Boats tottering back and forth, and it's got all that weight from the water in it.. so were just trying "desperately" not to flip it.. cause I really don't like sharks.. Meanwhile,, get this,, the Island guys in the front of the boat still trying to get the fish in!?? Were like man,, were sinking,, at least 2 feet of water in the boat at this point,, guy who owns the boat and hangin on with the rest of us in the back finally says .. come to the back with it. talking to the guy with the fish in the front.. well were going down at this point.. almost whole boats filled up, so the island guy finally gets the fish in, and grabs a bucket and starts bucketing out water,, eskies almost going over the side.. it was nuts. so after I had said about 5 prayers, and prepared to meet the sharks , somehow he got enough water out so we could start up again, and the rest emptied out. That didn't stop em though,, storm coming everything,, they just kept on fishing,, I grew real close to the Lord on that trip.. awsome time though.. those guys might be part water..nothing kept em from fishing,,

anna sutherland has some good ones! like the time a guy threw out his arm while speaking at a church. he ran of stage, screamed, popped it back in place, and then ran back on stage to resume.
