i would definately agree...even if it is partly due to the fact he had the best theme song eva! he IS our hero...

The only problem I see with Captain P is that he has ultimately failed. His sole enemy is pollution..."Captain Planet, he's our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero..." Yet ever since the Captain came into existence global warming has been on the rise, pollution is not zero and where is the Captain and his planeteers with their earth, wind, heart, fire, & water....???? Gone...They have run away in the face of their enemy and have left we the people to fend for ourselves....

hmm....
I don't know if i agree with this. What about Superman? If we're talking ultimate here, i'm thinking Superman could take CP out.

Who is captain planet ?

hahahaha....oh Brad....you are SO sillly. but seriously Captian Planet rocks, who cares that pollution is sky rocketing and that the icebergs are melting, it's not the Captains fault. What other superhero relies on the little children of the world with magic rings to combine their 'powers'? Wouldn't you agree that the Captian is the most humble of superheroes? If global warming is anyones fault, it is ours, because of our lack of belief in the power of our 'magic rings' (i.e. recycling).

I think it is fair to say that the rise in pollution is not the Captian's fault, but ours.

This most eloquent rebuff has made me a Captain Planet believer. Humble thanks, Amelia.

I really like that this entire discussion falls under the category "Faith." Way to not confuse the sacred and secular, friends!

Rebuff???...hardly! If the captain has to "relies on the little children of the world with magic rings to combine their powers," then he is no superhero! "who cares that pollution is sky rocketing and that the icebergs are melting"...are you serious? For starters, the captain should. Would Batman care if Gotham was destroyed? Would Superman Care if Metropolis was destroyed? Heck YES!! "Humble"...I think you meant incompetent.

It is not just mere coincidence that before the captain came into being, the scientists of the world were talking about global cooling. Then Captain Planet shows up with his "magic rings" leading us all astray thinking that pollution is just something you overcome with make believe and a catchy theme song. We were brainwashed! The Captain is directly responsible.

Captain Planet is drawing a fine line between faith and secular.... i have faith that his fight against pollution will succeed! and with our powers combined.......

Oh my...I am torn. The Captain does seem suspicious. And, might I add, his green hair never sat well with me. It reminded me of the Nicolodeon slime...do you remember that show?

unfortunately dave-o, millie, and erin, i must disagree, and brad you make some very valid and important points, leading me to say that captain planet is by no means the greatest superhero. any hero created by media magnate ted turner to raise awareness of environmental issues is indded a little creepy. not to mention a blue guy with a green mullet. superheroes should not have mullets, unless you're he-man or thor. then you got the muscles to back that junk up. a superhero should be ready to protect at all times, and not rely on children with rings.

Freakazoid would win in a fight between a sausage role and a toasted cheese sandwich.
